checking iqLED-Alpha-C8-RF controller

Post by Magic Friend » 24 Mar 2024, 16:31

This post will focus on checking the iqLED-Alpha-A1-RF controller after factory assembly.

Before using the controller, carefully inspect the product for defects, chips, "sticky", etc. All components should sit clearly in their places without displacement, as in the photo below.

1.0 - Install software STM32CubeProgrammer to flashing firmware.

download STM32CubeProgrammer /204 MB/: https://www.iqled.org/soft/en.stm32cube ... 2-15-0.zip

2.0 - Using a Soldering Irons and solder, set the BOOT jumper as shown in the figure below:

*************************************

2.1 - Controller power connection diagram is shown below. Use a Laboratory Power Supplies, voltage +3.7V, with a current limit of 100 mA.

⚡⚡⚡ DO NOT CONNECT LIVE CLIPS, THE POWER SUPPLY MUST BE DISCONNECTED ⚡⚡⚡

Image

2.2 - Make sure the controller consumes no more than 100 mA, then connect the USB to the PC.

2.3 - Make sure that STM32 BOOTLODER appears in Device Manager:

2.3 - Flash the firmware - iqLED-Alpha-C8-RF-boot-v9.hex via the STM32CubeProgrammer, for this:

-- 2.3.1 - Download iqLED-Alpha-C8-RF-boot-v9.hex /17 kB/ https://www.iqled.org/firmware/iqLED-Al ... oot-v9.rar

-- 2.3.2 - Select the required iqLED-Alpha-C8-RF-boot-v9.hex files and flash the chip as shown in the video:

2.4 - After successfully flashing the chip, disconnect the USB, turn off the laboratory power supply, remove the BOOT jumper:

2.5 - Make sure that the laboratory power supply is turned off, connect the power clips.

⚡⚡⚡ DO NOT CONNECT LIVE CLIPS, THE POWER SUPPLY MUST BE DISCONNECTED ⚡⚡⚡

2.6 - Supply power to the controller:

2.7 - When you turn it on for the first time, the green indicator will start flashing after 5-7 seconds, this indicates correct operation!

2.8 - Use the soft stick to test the UP, DOWN and LIST buttons. When pressed, the Red indicator should light up.

3.0 - Firmware update

3.1 - Press the center button, connect the USB to the computer and wait until the red indicator lights up. Release the center button:

3.2 - A flashing green indicator indicates that the iqLED-Alpha-C8-RF controller is ready for a firmware update.

3.3 - When connecting for the first time, check that the device is recognized in your PC as a Virtual COM Port:

Image

3.4 - If the device is not detected on your PC, check the USB cable, and also install the virtual port driver from the Drivers folder:

Image

3.5 - Download and run the software Light Studio Programmer v1.41
https://www.iqled.org/soft/distributive ... _v1.41.rar /11.6 MB/

3.6 - Download LED-Alpha-C8-RF-v14.sbin firmware.
https://www.iqled.org/firmware/iqLED-Al ... RF-v14.rar /200 KB/

3.7 - Update the firmware.

The video below demonstrates the firmware update process:

4.0 - Flash the firmware for STM32G030F6P6_Hub chip

4.1 Use a programmer - ST-LINK_V2

Image

4.2 Connect the ST-LINK/V2 programmer to your computer via USB.

Make sure your PC detects it:

4.3 - Flash the firmware - STM32G030F6P6_Hub_v001.hex via the STM32CubeProgrammer, for this:

-- 4.3.0 - Connect the ST-LINK V2 programmer to the device:

Image

-- 4.3.1 - Download STM32G030F6P6_Hub_v001.hex /6.6 kB/ https://www.iqled.org/firmware/iqLED-Al ... b_v001.rar

-- 4.3.2 - Select the required STM32G030F6P6_Hub_v001.hex files and flash the chip as shown in the video:

5 The final test is to check the SD card interface and radio synchronization.

5.1 - Use two micro SD cards. Format to FAT32 and copy DEMO files to each.

--5.1.1 - Download DEMO for Master SD: https://iqled.org/DEMO/C8/DEMO-Master.rar /1.65 MB/
--5.1.2 - Download DEMO for Slave SD: https://iqled.org/DEMO/C8/DEMO-Slave.rar /1.65 MB/

5.2 - Unpack and copy the DEMO-Master content to one microSD card, and DEMO-Slave to the second microSD card.

5.3 - Connect both controllers to USB for power and check the LED indication:

5.4 - The SYS indicator for the Master controller should show double green flashes.

5.5 - The SYS indicator for the Slave controller should show frequent green flashes.

5.6 - The SYS HUB indicator of both controllers should blink frequently and shine at half brightness.

THIS IS THE END!
